Honest Cork Wine was founded in 2021 by Denise Townsend. Townsend is a United States Veteran who served for nearly six years and holds several medals for honorable service.  Townsend has had a passion for the wine industry for over fifteen years. She has attended wine events and visited wineries all across the United States region. Townsend’s passion for wine is how Honest Cork was born, she remembers sharing bottles of wine at family gatherings and with friends over dinner.  Townsend found that sharing wine was a great way to connect with family and friends in an honest and authentic way calling it the “honest cork moment”.  
 

Townsend used these honest moments to share stories about her time and achievements in the United States military and about her journey through life as a mother, wife, soldier, friend, and entrepreneur. Townsend’s desire to open a wine company and invite others to share their stories is what inspired her to start Honest Cork Wine. Denise Townsend has over twenty years of combined business experience in the real estate and logistics industry.  Townsend holds a Master's of Business Administration degree with numerous continuing education certifications.  She is affiliated with the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), National Woman’s Business Owners, The Whitman School of Management for Women Veterans, V-Wise, and Veterans Edge.
